AFTER CARE

Once you are booked in, it is crucial that all clients become familiar with the after care process. Following proper after care alone, plays a vital role in determining the final results of your PMU (permanent makeup) services.

Your artist will go over this process in depth at your appointment. However, it is smart to get familiar with the information prior to your appointment day to allow you to ask any questions or bring up any concerns.

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

The healing techniques that I have formulated for my clients is a technique I have developed over my time doing body mod. These steps allow for optimal healing, with minimal scabbing and takes less time for clients to heal overall.

For all permanent makeup services, the healing period for my clients is typically 5-7 days, but may vary from person to person and extend to a full 10-14 days depending on your skin type. Following proper after care will ultimately determine the results and longevity of your procedure. Please note that all PMU procedures are a 2 step process and an initial touch up is required to complete the service. Any touch ups required must be performed a minimum of 4 weeks after another, however, the suggested time for booking touch ups is 6-8 weeks apart, in order to ensure safety and health of the skin.

this parts important!

PERMANENT MAKEUP BROWS

Congrats you look great!

1 HOUR AFTER:

  • Use the cleansing pads given to you to clean off the initial “weeping” plasma off the brows. The cleansing pads may show a little color on them, this is normal!

    EVENING OF PROCEDURE DAY:

  • One more good wipe with the cleansing pads before bed. Keep the area clean!

THE DAY AFTER: (day 1 of healing)

  • Brows typically feel bolder today! Do not panic, this is normal! Today marks the start of your aftercare routine. Use the cleanser to clean the brows twice a day! When you wake up and when you go to sleep is the best routine to follow. There are more than enough cleansing pads for the next week. If a client is particularly oily, or sweaty throughout the day, it is recommended to clean the area mid day as well.

  • Clients are sent home with Aftercare cream however are only advised to use it as a AS NEEDED product. How to know you need it? If the procedure area is feeling particularly tight or itchy, you can apply a tiny rice sized amount of the aftercare cream. Remember not to over do it! More aftercare cream does not equal better results.

    DAY 3-5 NOTES:

  • This is when the brows will go through the infamous disappearing act and flakey period! During this time, the brows will feel a bit dry and look flakey. THIS IS A GOOD SIGN YOURE HEALING WELL! Allow those flakes to fall off naturally! Juuust like a normal scab! No picking!

    DAY 5-7 NOTES:

  • Once the flaking is done, that disappearing act will be most present. Most of the procedure area may seem to have not stayed but let me explain; New healthy skin is merely hiding the pigment beneath the skins surface as it goes through the skin cycle, which is typically 14-21 days. The pigment will slowly start reappearing throughout the next 2-3 weeks.

  • Whatever pigment/ink does not stay, or if the colour is lighter than expected, do not panic! This is why we do a touch up! Once you return for the touch up, you will go through a similar healing process however is typically easier to go through as you’ve now experienced it before!

    EXTRAS TO NOTE WHILE HEALING:

  • It is crucial that you avoid getting the procedure area wet a minimum of 48 hours after your procedure. This includes showering, washing your face and or sweat! This does NOT include the cleansing wipes given to you! Those are needed!

  • Avoid working out or sweating excessively for at least 5 days. Sweat and pigment can bind together and once being washed away, sweat may take pigment with it! This will result in poor retention and a risk not worth your own investment!

  • I recommend to avoid the use of makeup up or skin care in and around the procedure area during the healing period, as this may result in altering the end results and final color.

AFTER HEALING: (wooooo you did it!)

  • Once you make it to the one week mark AND you are no longer flaking, you are able to go back to your normal shower, skin care, makeup, and workout routines.

  • Please apply sunscreen to the area if spending time in the sun.

  • The only products to avoid on the brows are harsh, stripping, or exfoliating products like retinols, retinoids, glycolic acids, etc.

  • Botox, Tanning, Laser treatments, and facials can be done 2 weeks before or after any permanent makeup service.

    EYELINER & FRECKLES

Eyeliner and freckles are by far the easiest services to heal from!

  • You may be swollen and red in these procedure areas but they both require minimal healing effort.

  • NO MAKEUP! It is crucial to avoid wearing makeup after both these services for 1 week. This includes tinted moisturizers and mascara!

  • For freckles, gentle cleansing is ok. I suggest alcohol free products just for this week!

  • NO EXFOLIATING! This will lead to poor retention and risk infection!

Other than that, avoid touching the area and you’ll be great!

    TATTOOS (+ scar/areola revision)

    Cool tat pal!

  • Second skin (tagaderm/saniderm) will be applied to all tattoos upon clients consent!

  • I personally like leaving my second skin on for a week, but anywhere from 3-7 days is ok!

  • Second skin can be allow for easy healing with low infection risks.

  • Weeping can occur within the second skin and is normal. As long as the weeping is contained within the edges of the second skin, you can leave it on!

  • If the second skin leaks, I recommend removing after 48 hours.

  • Edges lifting is not a concern unless the tattoo area is exposed.

  • Remove second skin in the shower and pull against the skin, not upwards!

  • Apply scent free lotion once a day to the area 1 week after healing. DO NOT overdo it with the lotion! The area may seem a tad dry for up to two weeks however this is a good sign!

  • 2 weeks later you got some really awesome ink you can lather in lotion if desired haha!

It is crucial that my clients understand that procedures consists of 3 large variables.

    1. The artist doing their part.

    2. The client doing their part.

    3. The skin doing its thing!

Although your artist is experienced with all skins types, the skin is a variable we have little control over. This is why doing your part is SO important to allow for a smooth healing period. This is also why the initial touch up is required to complete the service. The first session allows us to become more familiar with your unique skin and once you return we are able to make the adjustments needed at your touch up.

*Areola Reconstruction and Scar Revision clients please consult your artist about small differences to general aftercare practices.

*If there are any questions or concerns throughout the healing period, please do not hesitate to message me on instagram, facebook, email, or call through phone.
